Brooklyn born and internationally known, 77 Apes is the product of 15 million years of trial and error, desperation, hope, love, sex and endless vinyl spins. The pandemic forced music from mind and soul to mouth and hands - weaving influences and experiences into songs that drive the demons away… but always bring them home to roost. Nineteen releases later (singles, albums, and a live EP), all genres and styles are represented.
The 77 Apes is the full band experience. Lisa Tonner (Drums), Andre Cardenas (Bass), John Monahan (Guitar) and 77 Apes (Vocals, Guitar, Etc.) are touring and playing live right now. Come see us play - with lips quaking and hips shaking, you will be entertained. Come and see us.

Music
I hope that this note finds you well. I am 77 Apes, an indie musician based out of New Haven, CT.
Like many, I am deeply concerned about the current administration's actions, particularly those that impact the immigrant community in America. While I am all for immigration reform, the targeting of select communities and the withdrawal of funding from support services is both morally wrong and fundamentally Un-American.
I have made donations, wrote to my representatives, and voted. The only other thing I have to offer is my music.
So, I composed and prepared an EP for release. This music will be exclusively available on my BandCamp website, and all proceeds will be provided to IRIS CT (Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services of Connecticut).
IRIS CT means hope, helping refugees and immigrants rebuild their lives and strengthen communities. By providing basic needs, case management, health & wellness, employment assistance, English instruction, legal assistance, and youth education, they help people become citizens and community members. Your purchase reinforces their mission and efforts.
I wrote six bangers to keep your feet moving and your fists pumping. In addition, I have some merch that you are welcome to buy as well - handwritten lyrics, art, gear - All proceeds go to help IRIS CT!
I encourage you to visit IRISCT.ORG for more info. Thank you for supporting them, and for listening to indie music.

different musical styles. as i started to compose night songs, i took a totally different tack – late night brooding led to themes meshed in darkness, and motifs and phrases grew organically instead of through a structured, rigid format. while some streaming platforms force artists to make statements in the first thirty seconds, here songs developed on their own terms, defining their ebb and flow. i found myself in maine staring at the sea, watching the moon sparkle on the water, and just surrendered to that feeling for each of these unique pieces. some night songs embrace exquisite pleasure in the soft velvet, others are stark cries from the consuming void. lyrics weave through themes of colonialism, hedonism, d/s play, incarceration, and fractured love. in the end, night songs cannot survive the harsh day’s light, but their truth, beauty and power feel more… visible.
i hope that you enjoy this work - 77 apes.
